Seeking “Superstar” NYC Event Director

June 29th, 2010
Seeking "Superstar" NYC Event Director

Well, not desperately

NetParty is seeking a superstar to manage our NYC chapter.   We will be meeting with interested candidates this week and are available during work hours and evenings for interviews.

NYC Event Director

Our NYC Event Director will be the “face” of NetParty in NYC.  This is a rare opportunity and a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the right person, a self-starter who can handle much responsibility and demonstrate great initiative.

This is currently a part-time position.  However, we have big plans for NetParty, including launching an online business/social network to complement our offline events, and you will be considered for further opportunities within NetParty, including full-time opportunities, as they become available.

You will be responsible for helping to grow NetParty in NYC, including assisting with the growth of our membership through partnerships, innovative marketing initiatives, and social media outreach.

You will also be responsible for planning and managing our NetParty events from start-to-finish, including finding and making deals with the best local venues, hiring and managing event staff, assisting us with the marketing and publicity of the event, managing the social media presence for our events, and more.

We expect that you will be able to devote approximately 8-10 hours a week; however this may vary as this is a newly-created position that may require some flexibility.   Moreover, the position is commission-based, so you will be rewarded for your efforts and your income will grow commensurate with our growth in NYC.

In addition, if you have an interest in sales (not required), you will also be extended a commission for local sponsorships you secure.

Your responsibilities would include:

•    Helping us to further grow our NYC membership
•    Keeping up-to-date on the latest and greatest event venues in NYC
•    Negotiating with the venues to obtain the best benefits (drink specials, hors d’oeuvres, etc) for our members
•    Recruiting, hiring, and training event personnel
•    Helping to promote and market our events online and offline
•    Managing our presence on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, MeetUp and other social media services.  Experience with these services is not required but is preferred.
•    Finding and securing event sponsorships (if sales are not your strong suit but  event planning and marketing is, we would still love to talk to you).

You must:

•    Have great enthusiasm for the business/social networking space and for creating great events for young professionals!
•    Be a leader who can exercise control at an event, while handling any problems that arise with diplomacy and grace
•    Be a strong negotiator
•    Be polite and possess strong customer service skills
•    Be “in-the-know” with regard to NYC nightlife and the new, hot, “in” places
•    Have an interest in event marketing (we will train you)
•    Demonstrate strong writing skills

Compensation

Compensation for the NYC Event Director position is commission-based and commensurate with the growth, success, and expansion of our NYC events.

Interested?  Please send an email to jobs+nyc@netparty.com. And please send us whatever you’ve got: a resume, a photo of you, links to your writing, links to any relevant social networking profiles (perhaps to show you are a “connector”), whatever you think might help us in determining who the best candidates for the jobs are!

Finally, we regret that we may not be able to interview everyone who applies.  Please do know that we greatly appreciate your interest!

Startup Riot 2010 – Presenting 50 Atlanta Startups

February 1st, 2010

Startup Riot

NetParty will be attending (and perhaps presenting) at Startup Riot on February 17 and we wanted to let you know about this unique one-day conference in Atlanta.

During the course of the day, fifty entrepreneurs take the stage at the Fox Theatre’s Egyptian Ballroom and present, in 3 minutes and 4 slides, their startups. The day then concludes with a fun afterparty.

All of the attendees are pre-screened and they’ve lined up a great keynote speaker (Bo Peabody, former co-founder of Tripod.com and author of “Lucky or Smart?”) as well as some great press attendees like Robert Scoble (aka “http://twitter.com/scobleizer“).

Startup Riot is currently taking applications to both attend and present and it’s free to do both.  Here are the links:

We look forward to seeing you there!

What Happens in Las Vegas Actually Probably Doesn’t Stay in Las Vegas

October 13th, 2008

Because if our experience means anything, people in Vegas like to spread the word!

We are currently planning our Las Vegas Launch Party which will be held in November.  Although we posted some general information about the event on this website, we’ve yet to email or tell even a single Las Vegas NetParty member or Vegas resident about the event.  Not one.  Yet – we already have more than 200 RSVPs!  Guess that means we’ll have a “full house.”
